On behalf of the Scientific committee; SEHA Diabetes Education Nursing Advisory Group, we are thrilled to welcome you to the First SEHA National Diabetes Education Symposium.
Diabetes continues to be one of the most challenging diseases. As we know effective management goes far beyond prescribing medications- it requires knowledge, skills and motivation, structured education and support can provide all of this to our patients and families. Here lies the role of diabetes educators, who stands at the heart of improving outcomes, reducing complications, and enhancing the quality of life.
This symposium marks an important milestone in our collective efforts to advance diabetes care, education, and prevention. It is a unique platform to exchange expertise, share best practices, and explore the latest evidence-based strategies in diabetes education. More importantly, it reminds us that the heart of all our efforts is the patient-whose quality of life and wellbeing drive the work we do every day, and we will share the experience of empowering those patients.

Themes: “Educate to Empower: Building Healthier Communities with Diabetes Care”
Objectives
- Enhance Knowledge and Skills: Equip nurses with up-to-date evidence-based practices in diabetes care, prevention, and patient education.
- Promote Patient-Cantered Care and Well-being: Strengthen nurses’ ability to empower patients with in glycaemic control and in overall physical and emotional.
- Highlight the Role of Nurses in Diabetes Care: Emphasize the crucial role that nurses play in screening, early detection, education, and ongoing support for patients with diabetes.
- Address Challenges in Health Education: Discuss barriers such as cultural considerations, patient engagement, and resource limitations, and share strategies to overcome them.
- Integration of technology into practice, including: Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) systems, Insulin pumps, and Data-driven approaches to improve patient outcomes
